Senior Pastor, Restoration Fellowship

Restoration Fellowship is prayerfully and actively searching for our next Senior Pastor. We are seeking a minister who is called by God to to lead the church in the achievement of its mission and vision, proclaim the Gospel to believers and unbelievers, and care for the church’s members and other persons in the community. Qualifications
Education: Post-secondary education in religious studies preferred.
Experience: Ministerial experience preferred.

Overview/Job Description
The Senior Pastor is the Under Shepherd of the church.  The Senior Pastor leads the congregation, the organizations, and the staff to function as a New Testament church.  He is the leader of all pastoral ministries.  He works with the elders, deacons, and staff to lead the church in the achievement of its mission and vision, proclaim the Gospel to believers and unbelievers, and care for the church’s members and other persons in the community.  The Pastor is an ex-officio member of all boards and committees; he is in charge of the pulpit ministry and is the administrative head of the church staff.  He has the right and responsibility to nominate all members of the pastoral staff.  The pastor may travel to other churches, missions, and conferences for the purpose of ministering the Word of God with full communication to the elders and the body and consideration of the total church program.

The Senior Pastor must be biblically-centered with spiritual maturity that results in good communication skills with ministry leaders, staff, and congregation members in a loving and Christ-like manner.  He must demonstrate a commitment to handling conflict biblically, following the principles in Matthew 18.  He must work well with others and demonstrate a passion for ministry.

Restoration Fellowship provides the spiritual covering for Jesus Chapel School, as JCS is a ministry of the church.  The Senior Pastor is a non-voting member of the JCS Board.  He will maintain a positive, loving and open relationship with JCS administration, staff and students.
 
The Senior Pastor must also be able to delegate, recruit, and mentor.  He must be a visionary and strategic thinker and display a positive attitude and positive approach to problem solving.

Full-time position with a commitment of 40 or more hours a week preferred.

Responsibilities/Core Duties
Pastor Care:
Availability – The Senior Pastor will maintain regular office hours, ensure his contact information is provided and available to the church, and participate in church related events.  Events would include but are not limited to church and prayer services, ministry events, conferences, business meetings and church-related celebrations.
Visitation – As the Senior Pastor, it is important that members and congregants have the opportunity to meet with him outside of the walls of the church building.  In-person visitation should be a priority, as much as possible, for the sick, shut-in and new members. The general congregation should be visited as needed.  A telephone visitation ministry should be implemented and conducted as well.

Preaching/Teaching:
The Senior Pastor should strictly adhere to the Holy Bible for all preaching, teaching and instruction.  He will ensure the material is relevant and presented in a way that maintains church unity.

When controversial or difficult topics are introduced, the Senior Pastor should follow up any statements of personal perceptions, beliefs or experiences with edification using specific Bible verse and/or principles.

The Senior Pastor will maintain an open, positive and loving relationship with Jesus Chapel School, both staff and students, for the opportunity to witness and provide a place for those seeking a home church.  He should meet with the JCS student body at a JCS assembly at least once a month for ministry and teaching.  As a non-voting member of the JCS Board, he should attend the JCS Board meetings.

Communication:
The Senior Pastor should be available to church members throughout the week.  He should utilize available staff for forwarding information when needed.
The Senior Pastor should maintain an electronic and “big board” calendar for church events, meetings and projects.  He should utilize all media forms for church communication.

Administration/Staffing:  
The Senior Pastor will coordinate the direction of the church through mentoring, goals, and regular meetings with individual and small groups.  He should delegate duties when necessary and beneficial to the church.

The Senior Pastor should provide direction for implementation of new ideas, procedures, policies, and progress of the church.  He will develop a working and current organizational chart which includes staff, ministries, and leaders.

The Senior Pastor will develop staff goals and responsibilities through staff development.  He should prepare and distribute job descriptions for pastoral and office staff as needed.  He should manage the progress of the staff, which includes strength and improvement and should offer support to individuals and ministries.

The Senior Pastor will disperse pertinent and applicable information to staff, deacons, elders, and congregants.

The Senior Pastor should maintain regular office hours, learn how the church runs and operates, attend administrative meetings (elders, deacons, finance and other committees), and learn the necessary tools and office equipment needed for daily office and administrative operations.
